Based out of Franklin, Tennessee, Jim Podewitz brings the perfect balance of marketing and sales expertise to his position as content specialist with Senior Living SMART.
Jim’s past gigs include Director of Communications at a national bar association and a stint with Bild & Company, a senior living sales consulting firm. He also works independently as a marketing and communications consultant to a variety of different organizations, including several senior living providers. Jim says, “I write blogs, create content for websites, design marketing materials, implement communication strategies, and produce promotional videos.”
His marketing and sales chops got him noticed by Senior Living SMART, and he was excited to join the SLS family. “I love working with this talented and dedicated team,” Jim says. “There are so many brilliant people who bring their own unique skills to SLS.”
Jim is passionate about making sure clients understand how marketing and sales work together. “There is often a misconception that sales and marketing are the same thing,” Jim explains. “In fact, the terms are used interchangeably by many. But they are two separate and unique skill sets that work together in business. Marketing is the art and science of creating the conditions in which a sale can take place.”
Outside of work, Jim has many interests, including reading (he’s an avid fan of science fiction and military history), listening to British and Scottish rock and pop, and cooking for family and friends. He also loves spending time with his wife Julie, their daughter Ava, and the family dogs named Maggie and Winnie.
Both! I am a big fan of the original Star Wars trilogy, having seen them in the theaters in their first run. I also enjoyed watching Star Trek’s original series in reruns after school, and I was hooked on The Next Generation too. I have to throw in a shameless plug for my favorite sci-fi TV series, Babylon 5!
I love cooking comfort foods from around the world, like steak frites, fish and chips, meatloaf, and roast chicken. I enjoy the challenge of making classic dishes like boeuf bourguignon, coq au vin, and paella. I love cooking with my sous vide oven and my gas griddle!
I acted in close to 50 community theater performances of the musicals Ragtime and The King and I. I also stage managed six other plays and musicals, and I worked as crew and constructed sets for many more shows.
I enjoy an evening walk with my wife, making dinner, and then reading before bed.
