“What sets Senior Living SMART apart agency-wise is that they genuinely know the industry since they have personal experience from having worked in the trenches.”
“What sets Senior Living SMART apart agency-wise is that they genuinely know the industry since they have personal experience from having worked in the trenches.”
Based out of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, Stephanie is one of our fabulous account managers. In her role, she helps our clients create effective solutions for their marketing challenges.
“Here’s how I describe it,” Stephanie says. “We help communities educate seniors and their families on available options so seniors and their loved ones can make a smart, informed decision about their future and care.”
With a degree in Public Relations/Communications, Stephanie started her career in the real estate and home improvement industry. Back in 2011, however, she made an intentional career shift. “I found myself contemplating that there’s got to be more to making a difference through my work,” Stephanie explains. “So I made the decision to enter the senior living industry, following a personal calling to care for widows.”
Stephanie says not everyone is fortunate to have family to lean on and help make decisions later in life—not to mention, everyone has different needs and desires. She continues, “I’ve made it my personal mission to be a friend and trusted resource, provide information, and help make connections so individuals will embrace aging, instead of fear it.”
In addition to her PR and marketing acumen, Stephanie brings other skills and experience to the table. She obtained her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification in 2016, and she earned a non-profit management certificate through the Workforce Solutions & Continuing Education at Lord Fairfax Community College.
She’s put her credentials to good use, especially on the senior living side. She’s done fundraising and marketing for Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury, Richfield Living, and Friendship Retirement Community. While Stephanie loves doing the work, she also appreciates what she gets back in return.
Stephanie says, “The friendships I’ve made with seniors and co-workers throughout the years, the stories I’ve heard, and the life lessons gained through this work matter so much to me personally.”
Outside of work, Stephanie loves spending time with her husband, two children, and silver lab. During the warmer months, her family spends as much time as possible on their boat enjoying Smith Mountain Lake and sharing this love by hosting family and friends.
