“I believe that the best marketing doesn’t feel like marketing. It’s exciting, informative, entertaining, and fun—which are all things that are on display at Senior Living SMART.”
As a storyteller, writer, musician, and videographer, Doug DeMaio approaches digital marketing with a creative eye for engaging prospects. Doug was thrilled to join Senior Living SMART for the opportunity to create compelling narratives that educate and excite people around the modern senior living industry.
Doug honed his skills first in an M. Ed. program at Purdue University (Learning Design and Technology) before moving from online education and course creation to digital marketing. Prior to joining Senior Living SMART, Doug spent four years leading digital marketing initiatives in the independent school sector, racking up eleven HubSpot certifications along the way.
Doug’s experience with inbound marketing extends to numerous clients in the healthcare and education industries. This experience has helped him think creatively about the marketing and sales processes in senior living. Beyond working directly with clients in these spaces, Doug also reads and writes extensively about marketing topics. He hosts a regular blog focused on content marketing and has written two books related to the topic: Creating a Content Empire and LinkedIn for Independent Schools: The Complete Playbook.
Originally from the Boston suburbs, Doug spent ten years living in Vermont where he met his wonderful (now) wife. They have since moved back to the Boston area, and are enjoying the slightly better weather.
Outside of work, you can find Doug with a book, a guitar, or a nice hoppy beer in hand while catching up on a classic crime caper, or the like.

I love a good fantasy series. (I’ve read all of Lord of the Rings, plus the Hobbit; all of Harry Potter; and I loved the Wrinkle in Time series.)
